Chester High School’s Basketball Team Hits A Buzzer Beater To Advance In States A Day After A Teammate Was Shot & Killed

I thought we could use more heartwarming news in the face of tragedy since everything right now on your timeline is Coronavirus and sports leagues suspending their seasons.

Last night in the 6A state quarterfinals Chester High School advanced over Simon Gratz on a last second buzzer beater a day after a teammate was killed outside a basketball court Tuesday. What a shot to win it. An off balance 25 footer with time running down. You have to think sometimes there has to be a higher power on your side in some way. I couldn’t imagine losing a friend and teammate the literal day before a State Tournament game and then having the strength to play.

I mean look at this picture of the Chester players holding up their teammate’s jersey in a swarm of fans after the shot. Surreal stuff man…
