The Sixers Acquire Alec Burks & Glenn Robinson III

The Sixers needed two things at the deadline. A reliable backup point guard and shooters. At the moment it looks like the Sixers were able to acquire 50% of those needs. The Sixers parted ways with 3 second round picks – Dallas 2020, Denver 2021, Toronto 2022. Second round picks this free agency are regarded slightly higher than in years past due to the projected salary cap decrease next year.

Breaking this trade down the Sixers received two 6’6 wings who are formidable 3 point shooters with Robinson III shooting at 40% and Burks at 37.5%. Burks and Robinson are both averaging career highs in points per game on a Warriors team marred by injuries. Burks is averaging 16 ppg and GRIII is coming in at 13 ppg. The Sixers were in desparate need for reliable bench scoring and shooters to space the floor.

Hopefully this provides some semblance of an answer to the Sixer’s problems. Let’s see if they can make an even bigger splash in trying to unload that Al Horford contract and get a back up point guard so we’re not forced to watch Raul Neto anymore.

Update 1: I totally forgot GRIII was on the 14-15 Sixers team. Here’s 2:30 of his rookie season for a 18-64 Sixers team. The fans still holding onto the Process years are going to lose their shit. What an ode to Sam Hinkie by Elton Brand.
