BREAKING: Dallas Stars Dismiss Jim Montgomery

The Dallas Stars and their GM Jim Nill have announced that have dismissed Head Coach Jim Montgomery from the team. Effective immediately Rick Bowness is now the Interm Head Coach of the Stars. As a result, The Dallas Stars have brought up Derek Laxdal, the Head Coach of the Texas Stars, to serve as assistant.

Here is the official statement from Jim Nill:

“The Dallas Stars expect all of our employees to act with integrity and exhibit professional behavior while working for and representing our organization. This decision was made due to unprofessional conduct inconsistent with the core values and beliefs of the Dallas Stars and the National Hockey League.”

This is shocking news as he is only barely into his second year as a NHL head coach after having a near spotless career coaching the University of Denver Ice Hockey Team, of which he lead Denver to a Frozen Four Championship. In the NHL he did lead the Stars just shy of a Stanley Cup Appearance, just to fall short to the Blues.

More info to come.
