Are The Avalanche That Good?

We are truly witnessing something special in the Rocky Mountains this season. Right now they are 11-5-2 and are second in the Central Division. They had a monster October and are seemingly turning the tide on a rough start to November.

Two seasons ago the Avalanche fell through the basement of the NHL, loosing more games then they had points. “The 48 point season”, we all can’t wait to forget about it. That season arguably killed Matt Duchene’s want to play in Denver, but that trade may be the reason the Avalanche are so good.

They got two first round picks, of which Cal Makar is now reaching damn near God Status with 18 points in 18 games. Bowen Byram is surely going to be up in the NHL next season, making the Avs Defense nutty, and a nightmare for every team that is falling off the cliff. (Winnipeg, Minnesota, and Dallas).

Right now the Avs are without starting goalie Grubby, and top line wingers Gabe Landeskog, and Mikko Rantanen. Guess what? They are on a 3 game win streak heading into the surprisingly good Edmonton.

During the Winnipeg game the lost starting goalie Pavel Francouz got ran into by a Jets forward and was apparently knocked out cold. Backup backup goalie Adam Werner stepped in and stopped all 40 shots he faced in a 59:30 minute game, which is not officially a shutout, which is an absurd joke. Pavel faced no shots in 30 seconds, give him the shutout.

Everyone is stepping up in Colorado and its looking like its going to be a special season, I can’t wait for Gabe and Moose to get back.
