Didn’t get to post this when it happened because I was at work, lame I know but tell Joe to give me a raise. I feel like a lot of people didn’t like this move and I am NOT one of those people. First Jaylen is my favorite player on the team so I’m happy he’s around for the next 5 years. I also am not really expecting much from this team so keeping the players I enjoy watching is a decent trade off for me.
Of course my favorite team is the least successful Boston team of recent years. Just my luck.
I have been seeing a lot of people talking about how big of a contract this is and I don’t know if we’re looking at the same deal. 22 million per year for a core starter who has improved every year he has played is at worst the high end of a fair deal. Initial reports was that he wanted Ben Simmons and Jamal Murray money and at that point I would agree and say that would be an over payment.
I don’t even have a hot take or a witty joke like usual, if you think 4 years 115mil is a lot in the NBA you aren’t paying attention. I love deals like this, again it is a lot of money but everyone in the league either has a max deal or a vet min. $20 million per isn’t what it was a few years ago, $20M is the new $13M and if you can’t get that through your thick head you might be from Philly.
