One of the last RFA hold outs has finally gotten paid. Now we just wait and see what happens with Mikko and Laine and the excitement should be over, for now.
Brayden Point has finally signed a 3 year $20 million dollar contract with the Lightning with an AAV of about $6.75 million per year. It was reported that The Columbus Blue Jackets were taking a run at Brayden Point. I am unsure of what The Jackets would have offered up after there go big or go home trade deadline last year, of which none of those players stayed in Ohio.
There’s nothing wrong with Ohio, its just Nashville is better.
This deal to me looks like a lucrative bridge deal for Point, with it only being 3 years. In 3 years Julian is really going to have to open up the wallet to keep Pointed locked up into his 30’s.
The money seems low to me as Point did put up 92 points last year, and 198 points since being drafted in 2014. I am very pro player, but I have to side with the management on Points production has he was a no show in the playoffs last year, as CBJ showed them the broom right to the golf course. Looking forward to watching point break the 100 point mark this year.
