Preseason Week 1 Betting Guide

Football is back in a big way. First full slate of games tonight and you’re living in crazy town if you think we are getting into the action. Here are a few of our picks for tonight. Please note, it’s preseason. It’s wildly unpredictable but we’re going to try and give you some sort of leg up.

Los Angeles @ Arizona Cardinals

Cards -2 O/U: 36

Kyler Murray’s NFL debut (kinda) and all reports out of Cardinals camp is that he looks amazing. He is going to start but not sure how long he’ll play. If I had to guess I’d say he pays the first quarter unless he comes out and kills it on his first drive. If so they might pull him right after that.

I like Arizona in this one to cover the -2. Preseason is more about taking the team that was shittier last season. They have more to prove and need a preseason win to get asses in the seats.

New York Jets @ New York Giants

Jets -2 O/U: 34.5

Love the under here. Jets are going to want to showcase some of their new and improved talent so I think they can cover and easily win. The Giants however are going to keep the score low. They have no wide receivers of note healthy right now and we’re going to get a big dose of Daniel Jones. If he is anything like what we’ve seen in training camp highlights, the offense will be slow. Under under under.

Tennessee Titans @ Philadelphia Eagles

Eagles -3.5 O/U: 37

Wentz isn’t going to get much time tonight at all. They have to protect him because with Foles gone, playing the back up in Philadelphia is no longer an option. I expect most of the starters for both teams will be on the sideline for this one. I am leaning Tennessee in this one. Lot of back ups playing and with Ryan Tannehill behind Mariota, you have to think he can out play Nate Sudfeld. If you get Titans +3, I’d look at buying the hook.

New England Patriots @ Detroit Lions

Patriots -1.5 O/U: 36

This one is an easy play for me. I love the lions to win this out right. Patriots and their fans don’t care about preseason football. This is a go through the motions type of experience for them. I’m not even sure Pats fans will turn on their TVs tonight. That with the fac that Brain Hoyer is going to get a ton of time makes me lean Detroit. Patriots are an impressive 19-8 ATS in their last 27 road games. But once again this is preseason. This is where the Lions go 4-0 and then not win a single regular season game. Regular season you take Tommy timeless, preseason you play the losers. No bigger losers in the NFL than the Lions.
