Britney Spears is a beacon of light for most of us; an iconic constant in our lives that we have grown up with. I can’t remember my life before Britney Spears at this point, she’s been in it for longer than she wasn’t. If you’re like me, you’re going to want to join the #FreeBritney movement.
The 2nd best Britney Spears podcast in the biz, after HOOSWTABS of course, has started a revolution amongst Britney fans after uncovering some extremely alarming allegations that Britney did not actually cancel her Vegas residency because of her father’s health, but instead was forced into a mental health facility against her will because she wasn’t taking her medication.
You can check out the podcast for the full episode and these ladies really do a better job than I could at catching you up on the whole situation, but basically here’s the gist of it.
After the infamous shaved-head-car-umbrella paparazzi photo incident, Britney and all of her assets were put under conservatorship and she had no control over her personal or financial decisions, which at the time seemed kind of necessary, and we all just wanted the best for our girl. Her dad Jamie was put in charge of all of her finances, her house, and her PHYSICAL BODY meaning that her decisions on as much as what tampons she wants to buy are technically up to her dad. Some other lawyer guy literally named Andrew WALLET also had control over her estate.
Things have slowly been on the up and up for Britney since then. She’s made new music, has a hot boyfriend, got her kids back and a huge residency show in Vegas. For a time she was the #1 celebrity on social media. Her gym posts, dancing Insta’s and fashion modeling have the power to brighten anyone’s day. Just pure, unadulterated happiness watching Britney try on dresses and film herself while still somehow managing to not grow back the hair she cut off 12 years ago.

Every time Britney posts we all collectively breathe a sigh of relief that she’s still her fun loving, sports bra and Soffe short wearing self. There had been growing hope she might actually get out of her conservatorship and take back control of her life. But then back in October this lawyer guy demanded to get paid like $500K a year for watching over Britney’s money? and then suddenly quit last month. Britney was in rehearsal for her new revamped Vegas residency, Domination, when she suddenly announced she had to cancel the whole thing because of a medical emergency with her dad. It seemed a little weird, but good for Britney being a great daughter, and who would blame her for the tough road she’s had to take some time off to be there for her family. That’s the Mother Britney we know and love.
Then after around 2 months of silence Britney posted this cryptic Instagram that did not seem like something Britney would post and it was announced she had checked herself into a mental health facility. I only pray to have a social media brand so recognizable that one post that doesn’t fit with the rest and it alerts the Britney crazies to assemble.

People started wondering what was really going on with Britney. Where has she really been? Did she want to go? We can’t live in a world that’s just absent Britney Spears, it just didn’t feel right.
Now, with a Serial level of podcast investigation, more details are emerging that are making people band together to try and #FreeBritney. Again if you want the full details please listen to this podcast, I do not want to take credit for any of their tireless work, but it appears that even the whole reason that Britney canceled her residency was a complete smoke screen.
ALLEGEDLY, Britney started refusing to take her medication and her dad was none too happy about it. He gave her an ultimatum that if she didn’t start taking her meds again he would not allow her to continue with the Vegas residency and she said NO to drugs. Reminder that Britney is not allowed to make decisions by herself on behalf of her personal well being so her dad was legally allowed to cancel the show. As an olive branch he told her to just blame it on his recent health issues, and that’s how we got to January.
While the story just came out last month saying that Britney checked herself into a mental institution, word on the street is that she’s actually been in there since January and she doesn’t actually want to be there at all. Because she stopped taking her medication, people are claiming her dad forced her to enter this mental facility and even if she wanted to be out working on her mental health in her own Britney Spears way, she has no choice. She is literally a prisoner in her own life.
If you had told me 15 years ago this is where Britney Spears’ life would be in 2019 I would have thrown my purple VTech room phone at your face and kicked you out with my platform Sketchers.
But this photo that just resurfaced of Britney getting a day out to spend Easter with her boyfriend wearing a cute sundress and some Birkenstock’s has me jolted.
I feel emotionally compelled to do my part to help free the most influential music star my world has ever seen. If a Netflix series can help Steven Avery get a new trial, it’s time to use our platform to #FreeBritney. What is going on with her life is one of the most tragic mysteries of all time and we need to band together to get to the bottom of this.
If we don’t act soon, we may lose our precious pop star forever and I’m not going to just stand around silently and watch it happen. Whatever we gotta do to free Britney and get her back to giving us more Instagram content and taking care of her kids, we need to do and we need to do it now. I don’t exactly know what we can do that will help quite yet but I will get back to you on that. We simply cannot wait until Kim Kardashian passes the bar in 4 years but if it comes to that we will take it.
