The Bears Are Just Getting Started

Kurbs 1

The Bears are NFC North Champions.

That has a pretty damn good ring to it. I can’t believe I’m saying it and I can’t help but want more – and I know our boys do too.

It was a back and forth, emotional game against Aaron Rodgers and the Packers that had some all-too-familiar feelings from time to time. I’d be lying if I thought the game was gonna go off the rails and be the typical Packer game I’ve seen as a Bears fan.

But this team is different. This team doesn’t give a shit about the past. This team knows how to win.

Credit needs to be given to all three phases of the team – it truly was a team win and Swaggy Nagy rode the damn ship into the harbor.

Mitchell Trubisky bounced back with an impressive game where he looked in control and once again had command of the offense. More importantly, he didn’t turn the ball over and he used his feet only when needed. That 235 yard, 2 touchdown game is exactly the kind of stuff the Bears need from 10 God in the playoffs and they can go all the way if he does just that.

Let’s also take a moment to say that Mitchell Trubisky outplayed Aaron Rodgers…

And once again, how about that defense?! Vic Fangio’s guys came to eat. Khalil Mack once again brought it to the cheeseheads with 2.5 sacks, including a “back sack” where the Mack backed down Rodgers like he was playing pickup basketball. Leonard Floyd also had his best game as a Bear with 2 sacks, 6 tackles and a consistent presence against the run. Shout out to Roquan Smith for flying around and stacking up 10 tackles as well.

Quan also had a key pass deflection…a certain one that led to Eddie Jackson breaking Rodgers’ passes without an interception streak with a pick to end the game. Sweet, sweet, sweet revenge. But, get well soon Eddie – let’s get ya ready for the playoffs.

Hell, I gotta give a shout out to the special teams as well. Cody Parkey made his kicks. Pat O’Donnell had a few legit punts. Tarik Cohen broke off a huge punt return – special teams coordinator Chris Tabor has to be proud of his squad.

This season has just been so much fun. I love this team. I love our coach and I love this city.

Ring the air raid siren. Make some noise. Bear Down.

Lastly, congrats to Charles Leno for proposing to his girlfriend on-field after the game!

Oh, and let’s keep Club Dub open all the way into February.

All during the game they kept referring to the 2010 bears and how this team is as good as that team. I do not agree…The 2010 bears was all defense and this team is more rounded. Further, the team is not centered around just a couple of players. There were 7 or 8 receivers who touched the ball yesterday, that says a lot.
