When Doug Pederson gave the injury updates during his Wednesday press conference, there was a new named added to the long list…
-Then shortly thereafter, Ian Rapoport tweeted this…
#Eagles QB Carson Wentz, dealing with a back issue, is not expected to play this week, sources say. Depending on the result, given the time of year, Wentz may not play again in 2018. The team is still gathering info on his health.

I can’t say I’m totally shocked by this news. For week’s he has looked off. Now we at least have some sort of an answer as to why.
However, there are plenty of questions that still remain.
Does this back injury stem from the knee?
Was he playing injured?
Did they rush him back?
Hindsight is 20/20, but it certainly looks like the answer to last question is yes. Most experts say it takes at least a full year to recover from the type of injury he suffered. Wentz came back in just eight months.
I doubt we get any further clarity on this injury. Even if something is wrong with his knee, the “back” will be the scapegoat. I’m sure they will just say “we’re shutting him down to not risk any further injury” or give some other BS answer along those lines.
With the Eagles all but out of the playoff picture, it doesn’t make sense for him to come back this season. Shut him down and get him ready for a very important 2019 season.
This is the second year in a row that I am writing a season ending Wentz Report after week 14.
He ends the season with a stat line of…
279/401, (69.6 %) 3074 yards, 21 TDs, 7 INTs, 102.2 QB rating
and his league ranks at…
Yards: 18th
YPG: 11th (279 YPG)
Yards per-attempt: 14th (7.67)- has been dropping week after week
TDs: tied for 14th
Comp %: 4th (69.6)
QB rating: 7th 102.2
What the heck! My dad knows a lot about football!!! But he did not know this would happen! Darnit!
