World Series MVP/”Sacko” Watch 2nd Edition

Here we are, Game 3 of the Fall Classic. It’s been a fantastic series so far with the Red Sox taking the first 2 games and are now halfway to winning their 4th World Series Title since Theo Epstein (this dude is just known for this stuff) helped to erase The Infamous Curse of The Bambino. If you don’t know who the Great Bambino is, then here is a hint….

We can have a new World Series Champion crowned this weekend. As you mentally prepare yourself for what’s sure to be a thrilling finish, here’s a recap of game 2’s winners/losers with a fresh update on the likely series MVP and, more importantly, which “about to be hated” player is costing their city a title. This game’s poll was conducted a little differently since I tweeted out a Twitter poll to hear your guys opinion as well.

MVP: Los Angeles Dodgers

  1. Yasiel Puig (3 total points)
  2. Matt Kemp (2 total points)
  3. David Freese (1 total point)

Since LA lost Game 2, we’re going to start with them. Yasiel Puig and Matt Kemp drove in the only two runs of the game for the Dodgers with Puig’s RBI coming off a hit while Kemp’s came off of a Sac Fly so it’s pretty easy to see why Twitter voted Puig the best player for the Dodgers in game 2. Meanwhile David Freese had another quiet, but effective game against lefty pitching going 1 for 2 with a run scored.

MVP: Boston Red Sox

  1. Mookie Betts (3.5 total points)
  2. David Price (2 total points)
  3. J.D. Martinez (3 total points)

For the Red Sox, Twitter voted Mookie Betts as the best player for the Red Sox in game 2, and after a 3 for 4 day at the plate with a double and a run scored, an argument can definitely be made here. Price and Martinez actually had the same number of votes, but since Price has a checkered history of Postseason flops, I think his solid performance needed a little more appreciation than J.D’s game winning hit in the 5th.

Sacko: Los Angeles Dodgers

  1. Ryan Madson (-4 total points)
  2. Enrique (Kike) Hernandez (-1 total point)

Ah what we really want to see. Most of the time, it’s easy to see who the MVP is on the field, but it’s not always the easiest to see who was the biggest fuck up. Well, in Game 2, it was definitely Ryan Madson’s fault. In fact, the first 2 games have really been this guy’s fault so he’s practically begging to be LA’s Public Enemy #1. Ryan came in during the 5th with the bases loaded and proceeded to let those 3 runs score eventually giving Boston the game.

Sacko: Boston Red Sox

NO ONE

In a game that was played so well by the Boston Red Sox, there wasn’t really anyone that caused a lot of stress for the team in game 2. If we had to chose one player, it would have to be Rafael Devers after going 0 for 4 with 2 strikeouts.

Since the Red Sox are only two wins away for being crowned baseball’s newest champion, make sure you’re prepared for when the bottles start popping by getting your Goggles SZN T-shirt today!
