College Coaches Hot Seat Rankings

We’re just about half way through the 2018 College Football Season. Some teams have guaranteed a bowl spot, other’s are looking forward to next season. Those teams are looking to point the finger at someone, and that someone is usually the coach. Nevermind your quarterback who can’t throw more than 40 yards, it’s the asshole wearing the headset. Here are the Top 5 Coach whose asses are feeling the heat.

  1.  Chris Ash – Rutgers

The Birthplace of College Football isn’t happy, that is when they show up to the games.

The Scarlet Knights are currently sitting at 1-7 with @Wisconsin, Michigan, Penn State, and @Michigan State left of the schedule. Not looking good for Ash, might end the season at 1-11. Ash signed an updated contract through 2022. But Rutgers might want to break that with his overall record at 7-25.

2. David Beaty – Kansas

Beaty’s KU record says it all, 5-38 (2-5 this year). His contract was extended through 2021 in 2016, the following year Kansas went 1-11…great investment. Recently, Beaty fired offensive coordinator Doug Meacham. Classic move, blame the OC for your teams woes. Don’t worry Jayhawks, basketball starts November 6th.

3. Bobby Petrino – Louisville

Petrino’s first go-around at Louisville was well received, going 41-9 with two conference titles and two bowl wins. This time is so-so, sporting a 36-23 and only one bowl victory (2015 Music City Bowl). This year’s record of 2-5 isn’t helping, also new AD Vince Tyra will be looking to make his mark on the football program.

4. Larry Fedora – North Carolina

The Tar Heels are 1-5, they’ve been progressively getting worse; 11-3 in 2015, 8-5 in 2016, and 3-9 in 2017. This year, anything from 2-9 to 4-7. Recruits haven’t been flocking to the Heels with their recruiting ranking consistently in the lower half of the ACC. Fedora’s payoff would be $12.2 million, if UNC fired him right after the season, according to USA Today. That’s more manageable than most buyouts., and UNC will probably do it.

5. Gus Malzahn – Auburn

Sporting News

Auburn fans aren’t happy, Gus has given the Tigers a solid 50-25 record. But Auburn isn’t making the noise fans want to make in the rankings or SEC. Under Malzahn, they are 1-4 in bowl games. More importantly to War Eagle, they are 2-3 in the Iron Bowl (probably going to be 2-4 after this year’s game). You can win all your games, but if you lose in the Iron Bowl, your ass is in the jackpot. Auburn will be hesitant to pull the trigger due to the $38 million buyout.

Other Coaches feeling the warmth

Clay Helton – USC

Randy Edsall – UCONN

Kevin Sumlin – Arizona

Willie Taggart – Florida State
