Happy 3 Year Eagles Hall-of-Fame-aversary to #36 Brian Westbrook! #flyeaglesfly

October 19th, 2015 is a very special day for diehard Eagles fans. You’re probably wondering why? Nope it’s not someone on the teams birthday. It’s not Miracle at the Meadowlands.  It’s not the day we signed one of our best players….. it’s better…

October 19th, 2015 is the day the Philadelphia Eagles paid tribute and inducted #36, Running Back, Brian Westbrook into the Philadelphia Eagles Hall of Fame which every single Eagle fan will agree was 100% deserved.

There are and have been so many Philadelphia Eagles players who you could say is your favorite, but ever since he joined the team in 2002, Brian Westbrook has been mine. Even after he left in 2009, he has still remained my favorite Philadelphia Eagle to ever be on the Birds. Not to mention, I was once Christmas shopping with my fiancé in Brooklyn and I saw him, almost died, then of course introduced myself and he was the nicest, most down to earth guy. That just made me like him even more. I remember calling my mom afterwards in complete shock and excitement.

Here are some of Westbrook’s career highlights and awards to begin my gloating on him:

  • 2× Pro Bowl (2004, 2007)
  • First-team All-Pro (2007)
  • Philadelphia Eagles Hall of Fame
  • Philadelphia Eagles 75th anniversary team
  • Walter Payton Award (2001)

So a couple of things, Westbrook was a small guy at only 5 foot 9 but he played like he was 7 feet tall. I’ve always been a fan of the underdog and I 150% believe that Brian Westbrook was one of the most underrated players when he was in the NFL. I’m sure teams that played against him would disagree, but it’s funny because “NFL Films Presents” even rated him the most underrated  player in the last decade at one point and the video STILL gives me chills even years later.

Take a look…

Like the video states, Westbrook was nicknamed “Sea Biscuit” because of his short stature but the way he moved on the field was like magic. I honestly miss watching him break ankles. I would be glued to my TV every time he was playing and really just genuinely ENJOYED watching him on the field. I’ve always been a football lover and I watch all the games on Sundays, but there was something about Westbrook that when he was running the ball, you were engaged to that play saying in your head “how did he do that??”

Before I end this article with Brian Westbrook highlights, I need to point out that I’m very superstitious. I own 12 Eagles jerseys but last year, I wore my black #36 jersey every single Eagles game and I remember the night of the Super Bowl, I was going to my parents house and I forgot my jersey. You bet your ass I turned that car around and grabbed that thing! So basically, Westbrook’s jersey and my superstition issue helped us win the Super Bowl. I’m stickin’ to it!

Brian-I do need to personally thank you for being cool as shit and always retweeting me and answering my tweets because it’s really been sweet for our Branded Sports blog fans to see!

To Brian Westbrook from all of your diehard Eagle fans-congrats on 3 years in the Eagles Hall Of Fame. Thank you for being such a huge influence on me when it came to my love for football. You really are one of the reasons I love the game so much and why I love writing articles like this one. Thank you for working so hard every single game and thank you for being such a good guy off the field as well. Philadelphia is forever fans of yours!

Now…here’s some videos of Westbrook kicking ass and breaking ankles…
