“Duh duh duh da da da duh nuh nuh nuh nuuh – do do do duh duh doo duh nuh nuh nuh nuh nuh nuh neew”
That’s right everyone…CUE UP THE CHELSEA DAGGER! THE BLACKHAWKS ARE BACK!
The Chicago Blackhawks return tonight when they take on the Ottawa Senators on the road to open their season.
Last year was pretty shitty for the Hawks – they missed the playoffs for the first time in nine seasons, lost Corey Crawford to injury and could never get themselves going all season as they finished dead last in the Central Division.
But guess what? This is a new season and the Hawks are coming back to fuck shit up – nobody likes the Nashville Predators in first place anyway.
The 2018-19 squad is lead by the veteran core of captain Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane, Duncan Keith and Brent Seabrook. Last season’s team leader in goals, Alex DeBrincat is also returning along with speedster Brandon Saad and young standout Nick Schmaltz.
After that…it’s all youngins’ looking to break into the NHL and help Chicago get back to what it’s used to: kicking ass and making it to the playoffs. Watch out for rookie forward Dominik Kahun to try to make a big impact on the top line with Toews and DeBrincat, while young defensemen Erik Gustafsson and rookie Henri Jokiharju look to keep up with the likes of Keith and Seabrook.

And best of all…Corey Crawford may be returning as early as October 18th. If we’re gonna do anything this year, Crow needs to be in net.

I respect Cam Ward, but if he’s our staring goalie all year…we’re gonna be living in Fucksville…Barstool Chief also agrees with me.
Ward is better than anyone they had last year. He’s also a guy the rest of the room will inherently trust because he is a vet and he’s won. If he’s the #1 all year and there’s no Crow…one way to Fucksville

Time will only tell if this squad ends up working out, but this season is definitely a new beginning for a franchise that was a consistent contender the past 10 years. However, last season may have been the kick-in-the-ass the team needed to get back to speed.
Or, maybe they needed to get their “dick knocked in the dirt” as Jon Lester puts it.
Jon Lester: “Sometimes you need to get your dick knocked in the dirt to appreciate it. Maybe we needed that.”

Either way, I’m jacked that the Blackhawks and hockey are finally back.
Let’s hope Chelsea Dagger is ready to be played all winter long and into the summer…here come the Hawks.
