You’re not going to like what I have to say, Cubs fans.
Last night, I got the chance to go to Wrigley Field with my girlfriend and her awesome family for a Cubs game. Reminder, I am a Sox fan and still believe in their rebuild, even after the Kopech news (still sad). But, I was happy to take in another Cubs game and get a chance to see a division rivalry-matchup with the Brewers. Add in the fact that the Brewers were only 2 games back from the Cubs 1st place lead – this was gonna be some exciting shit!
However, what transpired at the end of the game confused the hell out of me as an outsider to the Friendly Confines.
The Brewers had a 1-run lead on the Cubs in the top of the 9th inning when Curtis Granderson homered on a fly ball to center field – upping the Brew Crew’s lead to 3-1. Just a 2-run lead in a crucial division game – surely the Cubs still have a chance to win.
But, apparently, the “world’s most loyal fans” thought otherwise…

REALLY? Cubs fans? Your boys only surrender one run in an important divisional game and you decide to leave?
And after the Brewers extended their lead to 5-1 – EVEN MORE fans hit the exits. I get that 4 runs is tougher than 1, but it is still a feasible comeback. I mean, did you already forget the David Bote grand slam???

Listen, I’m not a Cubs hater and I don’t hate Cubs fans. But, I’m calling you guys out on your bullshit. Your team is in a tight divisional race and you walked out on them. YOU BETTER SHAPE UP!
And to everyone who undoubtedly is going to say to me “at least the Cubs have fans who show up to games”…I never said Sox fans were the most loyal fans in the world. I’m fully aware that we had less than 1,000 fans show up to a game earlier this season. But like Eminem in 8 Mile, I know what I am and I say that shit proudly.
PS – Yes, that headline was inspired by “You’re The One That I Want” from Grease – I love that fucking movie.
